Sweetwater County School District #2 Graduation Requirements

These rules and regulations pertain to the requirements of graduation.  It is the intention of the Board of Education to prescribe uniform student content and performance standards for the common core of knowledge and the common core of skills specified under W.S. 21-9-101(b). 

Effective with the class of 2006 and beyond, a minimum of twenty-four (24) credits will be required for graduation. 

Of these:

  • Four (4) must be in English

  • Three (3) in Social Studies to include history, American government, and economic systems and institutions

  • Three (3) in Mathematics,

  • Three (3) in Science

  • One (1) in Physical Education

  • One/half (1/2) in Health.

  • Nine and one-half (9 ½) elective credits must be earned to accumulate twenty-four (24) total credits.

In accordance with law, no diploma or credit for a course which has been completed successfully shall be denied a pupil who has earned it. 

Sweetwater County School District #2 will recognize and accept a diploma or certificate of completion from an accredited institution earned by a district student placed in an accredited institution, if the diploma or certificate of completion reflects the minimum graduation requirements set by the state of Wyoming.

Sweetwater County School District #2 will award a certificate of attendance to special needs students who have been enrolled throughout the completion of their Individual Educational Plan (IEP) or through age twenty-one as long as identified students are unable to meet academic rigor due to a documented disability.
