District Profile

Welcome and thank you for visiting Sweetwater County School District #2. Our public schools are the heart of our community. We employ talented, student-oriented teachers, administrators and staff who are committed to your student's success.

The District comprises an area of 5,250 square miles and is located in Green River, which has a population of approximately 14,000. Sweetwater County School District #2 offers a comprehensive educational program for grades kindergarten through 12th and is North Central Association and Wyoming State Board of Education accredited.

The District operates Green River High School (grades 9-12), Expedition Academy Alternative High School (grades 10-12), Lincoln Middle School (grades 6-8). The District also maintains four elementary schools within the city limits (Harrison, Monroe, Truman and Washington) and three rural schools (Granger, McKinnon and Thoman Ranch) for grades K-5.

Trona mining, natural gas production and the railroad are the major employers in the area. The area is constantly evolving with the introduction of new businesses, and the community works hard at maintaining its timeless and peaceful setting.

Information from Nutrition Services on Government Shutdown

If the Government Shutdown is effecting your income, you may be eligible for free or reduced meals. We hope this shutdown will not be long term but if you are seeing a reduction in income please complete an application on line or pick up a copy at any school. Once you qualify, you will continue to receive services for the remainder of the school year regardless of when the government reopens. Please do not hesitate to call with any questions.
